Meta Put A Model On Your Laptop

Good morning. Nothing says pre-IPO like a blog post about protecting children that contains zero dates. "We plan to develop." Bold.
Letโs dive in ๐
๐ญ Whatโs Cookinโ:
OpenAI hired psychologists two weeks before the prospectus lands
Meta put a 30-billion-parameter model on your laptop, weights and all
Intel would like $15 billion, please
OpenAI
๐ง Wants Adults In The Room
The Bite:
OpenAI announced that it is working with the American Psychological Association (APA) on youth mental health and AI.
The two say they will develop guidance for parents and caregivers on teen AI use.
They also plan resources for clinicians and school psychologists on recognizing overreliance.
No funding, timeline, or deliverable dates were disclosed, and no changes to ChatGPT were announced.
OpenAI confidentially submitted a draft S-1 to the Securities and Exchange Commission on June 8.
Snacks:
Every deliverable in the announcement is written in future tense, with no committed ship date.
A June 2026 APA survey found over 75% of psychologists report patients bringing AI into mental health conversations.
OpenAI's March financing valued the company at $852 billion, with a listing targeted above $1 trillion.
Leaked 2025 financials showed $34 billion in spending against $13 billion in revenue.
APA published its Health Advisory on Artificial Intelligence and Adolescent Well-being in June 2025.
Why it Bites:
Every company about to go public spends the quarter before the prospectus building a paper trail. Not lying, exactly. Assembling.
Partnerships, advisory councils, expert networks, all of it dated and citable, all of it destined for the risk-factors section where the sentence reads:
The Company works with leading clinical bodies to address these concerns.
The announcement contains no money, no dates, and no product change.
It contains parent brochures, clinician handouts, and convenings, all in future tense.
It is the cheapest possible artifact that still counts as evidence.
APA has been considerably more specific for over a year.
Its 2025 advisory told platforms to test on young users before release, to stop mining adolescent data for targeted advertising, and to build AI literacy into schools.
Those recommendations have costs attached: slower launches, thinner ad economics, capped engagement. None of them survived into the announcement.
Meanwhile, the Florida attorney general is suing, with Altman named personally, and three quarters of psychologists say AI is already showing up in their sessions.
The brochures may take a while. The citation is already usable...
