🦮 Now Sells The Agent Leash

The Bite:

NVIDIA launched the Open Agent Safety Platform on Monday.

It is designed to keep AI agents inside the limits set by the organizations running them. The platform has two parts: OpenShell and Sentry.

OpenShell is open-source software that controls what an agent can see, do and access. Sentry is a watchdog that runs on NVIDIA's BlueField-4 DPUs (Data Processing Units), isolated from the systems the agent runs on.

NVIDIA says more than 100 organizations, including Anthropic and SpaceXAI, are working with the platform.

• Sentry can quarantine an agent that steps outside its boundary within milliseconds.

• OpenShell is optimized for NVIDIA's Vera CPU but can extend to Arm and Intel chips.

• Jensen Huang described the platform as "a browser for agents."

• SpaceXAI is already using it for Cursor coding agents and Grok models.

• NVIDIA said Hugging Face reported over 17,000 agents attacking its infrastructure during the OpenAI breach.

• The same day, NVIDIA added $150 billion to its stock buyback authorization.

Why it Bites:

The frontier labs spent September taking turns at the confession booth.

NVIDIA's pitch is simple: stop asking the agent to behave.
Put the leash in the silicon.

That moves safety out of the model and into the hardware. Sentry sits on its own chip, invisible to the agent, and pulls the plug in milliseconds. So the lab still trains the dog, while NVIDIA holds the collar.

And the labs are lining up to wear it. Anthropic and SpaceXAI signing on is a polite way of admitting the model can't be its own security guard.

Next, "enforced outside the model" becomes a checkbox on every enterprise procurement form.

NVIDIA already sold the industry the engine. Now it's selling the brakes. (damn)
