🍭 Meta Just Entered The Robot Race 🤖

The Next AI War Is Not Online

In partnership with

Good morning. Somewhere in California, a humanoid robot just watched a human tie their shoes… and took notes.

Let’s dive in 👇

🍭 What’s Cookin’:

  • Meta buys into humanoid robotics

  • Anthropic dev event goes 2-day

  • Kimi model beats GPT & Claude

Meta
🤖 Bought Its Way Into Robotics

The Bite:

Meta acquired Assured Robot Intelligence, a startup building foundation models for humanoid robots, for an undisclosed sum.

The deal closed May 1.

ARI's team, including co-founders Lerrel Pinto and Xiaolong Wang, will join Meta's Superintelligence Labs research division and work alongside Meta Robotics Studio.

Meta has been working on robotics hardware and AI models internally for years, but described ARI as bringing frontier expertise in robot control, self-learning, and whole-body humanoid coordination.

Snacks:

  • Co-founder Xiaolong Wang was previously a researcher at Nvidia and an associate professor at UC San Diego

  • Co-founder Lerrel Pinto previously co-founded Fauna Robotics, which Amazon acquired in March for its own humanoid project

  • ARI raised an undisclosed seed round from AI seed firm AIX Ventures

  • Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth said the company wants to build licensable robotics software: "the Android of robotics"

  • Goldman Sachs projects the humanoid robotics market at $38B by 2035; Morgan Stanley estimates $5 trillion by 2050

  • Wang wrote on X that scaling physical AI "will come from learning directly from human experience, not teleoperation alone"

Why it Bites:

Meta is simply buying the thesis that AGI runs through the physical world.
And that models trained only on text and images will hit a ceiling.

That means the next unlock comes from agents that learn to do things with hands, legs, and spatial awareness.

On its own, ARI is a small seed-stage team, but paired with Meta's existing Robotics Studio, its Superintelligence Labs, and Bosworth's stated goal of becoming the "Android of robotics…"

…then the acquisition starts to look like the first layer of a platform play.

Meta isn’t aiming to ship a consumer robot.
Instead, it’s building the software stack that everyone else's robots run on.

And timing is worth noting.

Amazon bought Fauna just weeks earlier, which is also co-founded by Lerrel Pinto.

Tesla is converting car factories for Optimus production.

The humanoid race is real.
And Meta just signaled to compete on the software layer, not the hardware one.

If that works, they don't need to build the best robot.

They only need every robot builder to need them.

Talk to your AI tools the way you'd talk to a colleague.

You don't send a colleague a three-word brief. You explain the context, the constraints, what you've already tried. But typing all that into ChatGPT takes forever — so you don't.

Wispr Flow lets you speak your prompts instead. Talk through your thinking naturally and get clean, paste-ready text. No filler words. No cleanup. Just detailed prompts that actually get you useful answers on the first try.

Millions of users worldwide. Works system-wide on Mac, Windows, and iPhone.

Steal This Prompt
⚡ Temporal Echo Frame

Turn any subject into a cinematic motion-trail shot. Like your image got hit with time travel and a Red Bull.

Use it to:

  • Create futuristic action shots

  • Add speed, motion, and “main character sprinting from destiny” energy

  • Make dancers, athletes, robots, products, or creatures feel alive

Workflow:

  1. Click this link (Prompt)

  2. Paste into your AI model

  3. Replace the #s with your subject + scene

  4. Watch it cook: ghost trails, velocity, temporal chaos, very expensive sci-fi perfume ad vibes
