🍭 LinkedIn Gave Everyone A Broom 🧹
Australia Blocks Bot Ballads

Good morning. A million people were handed a tiny broom and immediately started sweeping strangers. Beautiful stuff.
Let’s dive in 👇
🍭 What’s Cookin’:
LinkedIn users found the slop button and would not stop clicking
Australia kicked AI songs off its charts (finally)
Alibaba shipped a video model one day after cashing a $10B check
LinkedIn's
🔘 Slop Button Got A Million Clicks
The Bite:
LinkedIn added a "Seems like AI slop" option to the three-dot menu on posts on July 30. Members have used it more than a million times since.
Chief Product Officer Hari Srinivasan said those reports, combined with updated detection classifiers, cut views of content LinkedIn labels as slop by 40% in recent weeks.
The company has not said whether less AI content is being posted.
Snacks:
The button launched July 30, buried in the three-dot menu on any post.
More than one million clicks in under a month.
Views of flagged content down 40%, per LinkedIn.
Detection company Pangram found 41% of the LinkedIn longform posts it reviewed were fully AI-generated.
LinkedIn killed its own AI post-enhancement feature.
Flagged authors get a notice LinkedIn frames as feedback, not an accusation.
Why it Bites:
A million taps in under a month, on a control buried in a three-dot menu, with no tutorial and no onboarding nag.
Nobody had to be taught where it was.
That's some real demand.
And what people are demanding isn't a detector.
Plenty of them draft their own posts with a model and sleep fine about it.
They're not flagging machine, they're flagging effort: a one-tap way to say:
"you didn't read this before you posted it."

Blu Dot surpasses 2,000% ROAS with self-serve CTV ads
Home furniture brand Blu Dot blew up on CTV with help from Roku Ads Manager. Here’s how:
After a test campaign reached 211,000 households and achieved 1,010% ROAS, the brand went all in to promote its annual sales event. It removed age and income constraints to expand reach and shifted budget to custom audiences and retargeting, where intent was strongest.
The results speak for themselves. As Blu Dot increased their investment by 10x, ROAS jumped to 2,308% and more page-view conversions surpassed 50,000.
“For CTV campaigns, Roku has been a top performer,” said Claire Folkestad, Paid Media Strategist, Blu Dot. “Comping to our other platforms, we have seen really strong ROAS… and highly efficient CPMs, lower than any other CTV partner we've worked with.”
Using Roku Ads Manager, the campaign moved from a pilot to a permanent performance engine for the brand.
