Apple used its WWDC 2026 (Worldwide Developers Conference) keynote to unveil a rebuilt Siri powered by a custom 1.2-trillion-parameter Google Gemini model.

The deal costs Apple roughly $1 billion per year.

Siri is now a standalone app with a chatbot-style interface, personal context access across emails, photos, and files, and on-screen awareness.

iOS 27 also introduces Extensions, a system that lets users swap in Claude, Gemini, or other third-party models as their default AI assistant.
